Exacting Real Change & Providing Tangible Help
Special Edition: Day of Giving 2025 Blog
by Lark Lewis, 2025 Annual Day of Giving Campaign Chair & Uplift Founding Board Member
One of the reasons I originally said ‘yes’ to joining Uplift as a Founding Board Member back in 2020 was the opportunity to exact real change and provide tangible help to women and children in crisis. Fast forward five years and the number of women in need has only grown; but so, has this community and their capacity to support.
Uplift serves a unique need in the direct-aid space—our grantees are women on the brink of devastation. They’ve incurred an unexpected medical expense or need a pricey car repair, things that people like you and me have the resources to weather but could derail so many of our applicants into a cycle of crisis that is sometimes impossible to get out of.
Our average donation request is under $2,500. That’s all that is in the way of survival for families all across the country. All that is needed to help women stay afloat.
But as more women find themselves struggling in this economy, we’ve seen an influx in applicants—and right now we’re funding fewer than 10% of applicants due to our funding restrictions.
That’s why we’re launching our 3rd Annual Day of Giving, a day to band together and pour into our respective communities and help women and children in crisis. We’ve got an ambitious goal of $26,000 - 100% of which will provide direct financial assistance to our applicants—but one thing about this supporter base is they consistently rise up to meet the challenge ahead.
Whether you’ve helped us via social media, word of mouth or with donations before: we thank you for your continued support. And if you’ve been waiting for a sign to activate in a new way—this is it.
All those years after helping to get Uplift off the ground and officially launched, I’m excited to lead in a new way as Chairwoman of Day of Giving this year. I hope you’ll join me in reaching our goal.
Lead the lift. Be the Change.
