Reflection & Gratitude in a Season of Giving
Empowering women to uplift other women
As we head into a season of giving and gratitude, Uplift’s cause remains fiercely constant. While the fight for equity and access across the country stays a priority for many women and families facing crisis, so too does our willingness to help. While we reflect on all our hard work this year, Uplift is committed to remaining a judgement-free, accessible resource for the hundreds of grant applicants that have requested our help.
So far this year, Uplift has reached landmark numbers in fundraising efforts, and supported more grant recipients than ever before. We are so incredibly grateful to all of our donors and volunteers who undoubtedly made this achievable. Thanks to all of you, our outreach is expanding, allowing us to uplift communities of women and children facing crisis throughout our country. But, as our number of grant applicants increases, our work remains far from over.
There’s no question that women and children are facing a growing series of challenges across the country. Whether it’s homelessness, hunger, medical emergency, we see all of these risks in our applications every day. At Uplift there is an opportunity to change lives and eradicate the instability so many families unfairly face in our country. With an average grant this year of just $1,018, we’re seeing the impact every donation, big and small can make. Our recipients can transform their instability into strength.
And with the 72-hour guaranteed response time for all of Uplift’s applicants, they can get the immediate support they need, just when they need it the most. This leads to increased stability and long-term success for the families we aid.
Uplift recently received an incredibly beautiful note from one of our most recent grant recipients.
“Uplift helped me twice, and the second time was key. The first got me above water after feeling like I was drowning and the second one was like a current pushing me toward shore,” she said. “I’m squarely onshore now, not only safe and secure in stable housing with my daughter but also thriving professionally.”
Because of the gracious donations from our community, this single mother, and so many others like her, are now able to provide a more stable and secure life for their families. Uplift continues to hear countless testimonials, like this one, from women whose lives have been completely transformed by just a single gift from someone like you. With these donations, Uplift can help communities across the country feel empowered to ask for help. As our grant recipient shared, there is so much power in receiving help from a trusting and safe resource.
“Beyond the lifesaving financial assistance, the Uplift process was also life-changing because it empowered me to be confident and bold in asking for help when I’ve needed it since.
Before Uplift, I felt shame in the asking. I’d been made to feel this way various times in the past when I needed help… The Uplift process doesn’t have any shame, judgement, intrusiveness, or embarrassment in it at all. My daughter and I thrive now because of the help Uplift provided to us.”
It’s astounding how impactful even a small donation can be. For so many of our applicants, the hardest thing can be asking for help. With an accepting and kind network like ours, we have the opportunity to aid in transforming the lives of so many more women just like her. Your donation, combined with the determination and grit of our applicants is beyond powerful.
Help us finish this year strong in continuing to empower women and consider making a year-end gift to change another woman’s life in current crisis. To donate visit https://www.upliftingwomen.org/donate.
